and build prosperity
The Zurich Center for Economic Development is embedded in the Department of Economics – a department that is the home of internationally leading researchers, offers ample opportunities for interdisciplinary research and teaching, has an excellent infrastructure in the form of behavioral and neuroscience laboratories, and hosts the highly reputed Zurich Graduate School of Economics.
The aim of the center is to create a synergistic cooperation between professors, postdocs, doctoral students, strong partners in business, government and non-profit organizations both in highly developed and developing countries for the purpose of designing and evaluating economic policies that facilitate the alleviation of poverty and help build prosperity.
Our vision is to become an international nucleus of applied research in economic development. This goal will also be facilitated by annual workshops with international leaders in the field, by providing the best conditions for knowledge transfer and by attracting a continuous flow of international experts for short- and medium-term visits to the University of Zurich.
